Times Square!
On the one hand, after 20 years of experience in public art, I have some aspirations for creation; on the other hand, because of the opportunity for reflection brought by the epidemic, I hope that the process of exploring myself can become the most authentic and sincere creation. Therefore, in recent years, I focused on pursuing my own sculpture creation. At the same time, I also actively participate in art competitions to seek immediate feedback on the completion of my works from an objective and multi-cultural background. In addition, during the round trip of the submission test, I also sorted out the relationship between the contemporary art environment, market mechanism and my own creation through the process of learning and coping.
In the past three years since the epidemic, many online art galleries and platforms have emerged internationally, providing many opportunities for international online prize competitions and digital media exposure that were unprecedented in the past. Usually, if the work can enter the final selection, it can be exhibited on the online platform and get the opportunity to be promoted. In addition, you can also obtain international connections or cooperation opportunities on the platform through the artist’s personal website link.
For example, HMVC Gallery New York, an online art gallery platform based in New York, had a competition theme of “Current Mood” in February, and my work “Harmony” qualified as a finalist. In addition to the joint exhibition of the works in the virtual gallery for one month, the pictures of the works can also appear on the billboard in Times Square. Although it is only for a few seconds, the tour lasts every hour for one month. It’s a very special experience. The New York I lived in when I was a student is far away on the other side of the world, but now my work is appearing in Times Square, which is so exciting in my memory!
