以創作者的立場來說,我覺得作品的論述是從作品的生成過程中“長”出來的。也就是由一個概念,透過藝術實踐的過程,而逐漸焠鍊成一種像信念的“東西”。這個東西的形與質,甚或其象徵意涵,是一種足以論斷藝術家立足於世的創造性價值及貢獻。
因為藝術實踐所具備的實證能力,其熟成的創作脈絡會成為一種普世邏輯,在社會意識的知面上,成為立竿見影的刺點而為世人啟發。也因此,藝術家義無返顧的責任與義務,應如分離派(1897)所揭櫫:給予時代相對的藝術,給予藝術相對的自由。
From the perspective of the creator, I feel that the narrative of the work “grows” out of the creation process of the work. That is, from a concept, through the process of artistic practice, it is gradually quenched into a “thing” like belief. The shape and quality of this thing, or even its symbolic meaning, are enough to judge the artist’s creative value and contribution to the world.
Because of the empirical ability of artistic practice, its mature creative context will become a universal logic, becoming an immediate punctuation in social consciousness and inspiring the world. Therefore, the responsibilities and obligations of artists without hesitation should be as stated by the Secessionist (1897): to give art corresponding to the times and to give art corresponding freedom.
