Greeting: Jason Shih Finds the Promise of Spring in Bronze Sculpture

Jason Shih received the Gold Prize in the Contemporary Sculpture category for Greeting, a cast-bronze work inspired by the arrival of spring and the resilience of living forms. Through an abstract sculptural language informed by plants, Shih reflects on growth, perseverance and the promise of new beginnings.

施承澤以作品《向陽》（Greeting）榮獲當代雕塑類金獎。作品為鑄銅雕塑，其靈感來自春天的到來以及生命形式所展現的韌性。施承澤透過汲取植物形態的抽象雕塑語言，探討了成長、堅韌以及新起點所蘊含的希望。

Greeting finds its emotional force in a familiar natural transition: winter giving way to spring. Rather than reproducing a plant literally, Shih approaches organic growth through concise abstract forms, inviting viewers to connect the sculpture with their own experiences of renewal.

The work also reveals the material discipline behind that apparent simplicity. Bronze casting requires accuracy, while surface colour and texture help determine how the final form is perceived. Recognised with the Gold Prize, Greeting brings together technical care, poetic symbolism and a quietly optimistic vision of endurance.
